in-ground pool process

New Jersey has nice, long summer seasons that provide perfect swimming pool weather that we feel like everyone should enjoy.

Installing an in-ground swimming pool gives you more than endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. Swimming brings great physical benefits along with boosting mental and emotional health. Having a pool in your own backyard means you can ‘staycation’ just a few feet outside your home, no need for stressing over planning a vacation and the extra expenses that go along with it! Also, adding an in-ground swimming pool to your home can add value to your property and appeal if you decide to sell.

Below is the building process to give you an idea of what the installation is like and how long it should take.

The Building Process

(Normal Completion time: 4-6 calendar weeks from day of excavation-weather permitting)

Step 1: Project Design and Proposal

The swimming pool process starts when you visit our showroom or we come out to your home to discuss what shape, size, add-ons and decking you want for your swimming pool. We will need your property survey to see all setbacks, house & lot dimensions, positioning, location of utilities and access to site. Once a location for the pool and a budget has been given, we prepare a pool design and write up a home improvement contract.

Step 2: Permits and Approvals

Once the contract is signed, we will get the permit for pool construction, electric and gas (if applicable). While we wait for the permit approval, we will call for clearances of all existing utility lines before digging.

Step 3: Pool Layout

Once the plans are approved and all permits are obtained, construction can begin. We will go over all of the construction stages with you and layout and mark out the pool to ensure the pool is in the proper location.

Step 4: Excavation

After mark out is set, excavation will begin. The excavator will come into the yard and begin digging the pool to the exact shape and depth required (this is usually done in one day)

Step 5: Pool Build

Once the pool is dug, our builders come in and start building the pool walls and structure into the excavated hole. We will call for all inspections when needed. Once the pool structure is built and the beginning inspections have passed, we will then run the plumbing for the pool, put the filtration equipment in place and install the vinyl liner. After the liner is installed, the electrical work will be done and inspected. We will then backfill the dirt around the pool walls to prepare for the concrete, after the ground has settled for a little bit, we will arrange for the concrete to be poured. Once cured, the final stages of the installation are completed, the job site will be cleaned up and a pool orientation will be performed to ensure you know how to take care of the pool water and equipment properly.
